I’m becoming a bigger and bigger fan of [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Tyga[/lastfm] with every song he puts out. You probably remember him mostly from being part of “Bedrock” and in one of this week’s picks he teams up with [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Drake[/lastfm] yet again. Makes sense with them both being from the Young Money fam. I decided to include two picks to show how different his songs can be and the second one is… well… just DOPE.

Did you know [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Tyga[/lastfm] is [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Gym Class Heroes[/lastfm] frontman [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Travie[/lastfm]’s cousin? So talent runs in the family. They were in a song together called “Coconut Juice” which was Tyga’s first single. Much more of a party vibe than his recent stuff but I liked his style from my first listen. Look out for a cameo by [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Pete Wentz[/lastfm].

Considering “Coconut Juice” came out in 2008, Tyga has had plenty of time to grow up and find his voice. YMCMB has its own reputation, too, which explains why one of his latest songs “Rack City” is so much more adult and has that grimy beat. Definitely shows off a darker side to his rap game and it’s SO catchy.

The second song I wanted to feature on my playlist this week is his latest, called “Still Got It” featuring [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Drake[/lastfm]. It’s sweet and has that mellow Drake vibe but with Tyga’s verses which is a  good combo. All of it worked really well here and I love that it’s the softer side of Tyga. It’s pretty much the complete opposite of “Rack City” but you can tell its the same dude in the song. I pretty much fell in love with this one on the first listen. A music video isn’t out yet but I hope you’ll enjoy it anyway.

You’ll be able to find both “Rack City” and “Still Got It” on Tyga’s upcoming CD Careless World: Rise of the Last King out on the 24th.

Hope you liked my picks for this week, let me know what you think and what YOU’RE listening to on your Playlist! xoxo – S
