The budding friendship between [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Snoop Dogg[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Wiz Khalifa[/lastfm] is the kind of kinship that forms only the truest of bromances. The West Coast rappers have always had more in common than just their love for cannabis but their upcoming tour next month will allow them to share their bromance with a broader audience.
[photogallerylink id=127008 align=left]The 6-date tour coincides with the release of their upcoming movie’s soundtrack. The film, “Mac and Devin Go to High School” is billed as a “buddy comedy”, but going on a limb I’m guessing it’s also a stoner comedy, that features Wiz as a well-to-do student, Devin, who is struggling with writing his Valedictorian speech when he meets Mac, Snoop Dogg, a 15-year senior who vows to teach Devin how to have fun in exchange for some tutoring so Mac can win over the new chemistry teacher.
While the plot isn’t the most complex or unique screenplay we’ve heard of, I expect that Wiz and snoop will provide some unpredictable moments that will give the movie it own flavor.
The lead single from the soundtrack, “Young, Wild and Free,” is the perfect example of the movie’s underlying themes and motifs.
The last stop of the tour happens to be right here in LA. Check for the Cheech and Chong of hip hip at the Wiltern on December 13th.

[photogallerylink id=130770 align=left]When you think [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Kanye West[/lastfm], you probably think “jerk” or at least “meanie,” I know some do. But since Watch The Throne, I think we are all seeing a kinder, gentler, nicer side of ‘Ye.
Perhaps it’s his introspective verse on the track “New Day” that foretold the struggles his fictional son would have because he’s been such a jerk to the world. Perhaps he is just more mature. Or perhaps it doesn’t matter at all and we should just be happy with the changes we’ve seen in Mr. G.O.O.D. Music.
His latest act of kindness was an exceptional gift to the entire hotel staff of the New York City Mercer Hotel. Yeezy personally thanked everyone for all of their hospitality while he and [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Jay-Z [/lastfm]were staying there to record parts of Watch the Throne. The duo rented out the whole 2nd floor of the hotel to make room for the project. And then he took everybody, and I mean everybody to see him and Jay perform at the Watch The Throne tour stop at Madison Square Garden.
And Kanye didn’t skimp either. According to one of the staffers, the seats were stellar! “We were all provided with complimentary tickets, and Kanye personally thanked each team member for attending,” one employee told reporters. “The seats were amazing and he was such a gentleman.”
Well there you have it. Go Kanye! All that fashion designing is really softening him up!

Yay! [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Drake[/lastfm]’s album, Take Care, is officially out today!
[photogallerylink id=113463 align=right]Drizzy Drake was able to get some spectacular features on his latest album, including Young Money boss man, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Lil Wayne,[/lastfm] lost love, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Rihanna[/lastfm], and MMG mogul [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Rick Ross[/lastfm]. And I’m not even going to get into his legendary experience with living legend [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Stevie Wonder[/lastfm], who also makes the album. But the one Drake wanted but couldn’t get was the elusive [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Justin Timberlake[/lastfm].
Justine Timberlake unfortunately just couldn’t bring sexy back to Drake’s album this time around due to a very busy schedule and not being able to transition into the right musical mindset to be apart of someone’s album. “I mean I really wanted to work with Justin Timberlake on this project,” says Drake, “and we came so close man, so close. He’s just super busy, and not in the music mindset right now as far as creating.”
Timberlake’s hectic year includes three feature films: “Bad Teacher”, “Friends With Benefits”, and the latest “In Time”. Besides sharing his time between promoting his movies, he also spent a good amount of the year working on supporting his own record label, Tennman Records, and the first band he signed, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Freesol[/lastfm], a pop-rock duo.
But Drizzy has big plans for the two when they finally do get a chance to work together in the studio, “The song was gonna be dope,” says Drake. “It was solid – a solid little look. But he’s so immersed in the acting thing, and I don’t blame him, he’s doing great at it. He was just like, ‘I really want to work, I just can’t do it right now. But we’ll work as soon as I’m back in the studio.'”
[photogallerylink id=129379 align=left]Drake continued, eagerly awaiting the time when his main man producer, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Noah “40” Shebib[/lastfm] and Justin have the chance to work together, “So he gave me his word on that, so I’m looking forward to working with him. Even just giving him some ideas, writing, him working with [producer Noah “40” Shebib], I think that would just sound crazy, Justin Timberlake and 40. Half the time, I just want artists to work on 40’s beats, I don’t even really want to intrude. I just want to hear them. 40 has so many ideas, and I’d love to hear an artist like Justin Timberlake to see what he and 40 could come up with, but that was the one person that I was sorta like, ‘Damn!’ But we’ll get it though.”
I’m all for the Justin-40 connection, but honestly, I don’t care who Justin works with as long as he starts making music again. Please, Justin, we are ready.
And go grab that new Drake!
