There has been a good amount o speculation about who the guest feature would be on [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Rihanna[/lastfm]’s latest album, Talk That Talk.
Previously, the Roc Nation singer tweeted, “One feature on the album! And we got the best!!!!!” The vague message had the internet scurring around trying to figure out. But we can put that all to rest now, because the producer has spoken.
[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Stargate[/lastfm] worked with Rihanna on her title track, “Talk That Talk,” and reveled recently that the guest feature is none other than the Roc Boss himself, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Jay-Z[/lastfm]. Stargate is duo of producers that had been itching to get into the studio with both Rih and Jay, “This is the first time we do a song with Jay-Z and Rihanna together. Actually it’s the first time Jay does anything on our beats,” said Tor Erik Hermansen, one half of the hitmaking duo. “It was about time.”
[photogallerylink id=121721 align=left]This isn’t the first time, however, that Jay-Z and Rihanna have worked together. In fact, when they work together, magic seems to happen, you may remember Rihanna’s breakout single “Umbrella,” don’t you? And we can’t sleep on “Run This Town” either. Together, they make Roc Nation shine, that’s undeniable.
Stargate says that “Talk That Talk” is a showcase of both of artists talents, “Talk That Talk’ is a mid-tempo banger with hard drums, dirty synths, and Rihanna and Jay at their best. We are very happy with the song and Jay’s verse is crazy—same with Rihanna’s part,” said Hermansen.
The album comes out in just a few weeks, November 21st. I’ll be playing close attention the only collaboration on the project. If history is any indication, I’m just going start right now waving my hands in the air, like I just don’t care.
“We Found Love” by Rihanna
We all love [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Nicki Minaj[/lastfm]’s voices, don’t we. I know I swoon when she puts on her best British accent and dices it with cockney appeals that remind some of “My Fair Lady”. But maybe that’s just me!
Regardless, we listen because she mixes it up every time. Well, we already have read reports that Nicki plans to unleash more of Roman on her second album, but we aren’t quite sure if her latest rant as Roman is referring to the album or another side project that Roman can dominate.
[photogallerylink id=75776 align=left]In two weeks, the one year anniversary of her debut album, Pink Friday, Nicki announced in her “State of the Union” address that Roman “will be in rare form this time.” It continued “he has 2 more weeks in boarding school. we’re going to pick him up now. when he lands, he will address the nation in the form of music. he will also announce the date. *salutes the nation* love u always,” she concluded.
From the looks of the “State of the Union” address, it’s becoming clear that Roman has already infiltrated the sweet mind of her Minajesty. The countdown has begun, will Nicki unveil a new single, an album release date, a mix tape? I am so curious!
Well actually it’s nothing. Nicki Minaj took to twitter to shoot down the rumors of new Roman music.
Stay close, as soon as the news drops, we’ll clue you in. We hope there is still new music on the way. Until then…
“Check It Out” by Nicki Minaj
This is a day we have all been waiting for. [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Adele[/lastfm] has undergone laser throat surgery. In the last few weeks, Adele has had to make the tough decision to cancel all of her shows and appearances for the remainder of the year.
[photogallerylink id=104427 align=left]This news came in response to the singer’s battle with throat issues that manifested as laryngitis and eventually leading to a vocal hemorrhage that threatened Adele’s future as a singer, “Singing is literally my life … I have great confidence in believing you know how much this upsets me, how seriously I take it. Wanting to do something so bad and not being able to is the most frustrating thing as I’m sure you know,” she wrote in a message to her fans on her website blog “My voice is weak and I need to build it back up. I’m gonna be starting up vocal rehab [soon] and start building my overall stamina in my voice, body and mind.”
Her hiatus were under doctor’s orders but that obviously didn’t take the sting out her not being able to perform, “It is with deep regret that Adele has been forced to cancel her remaining live dates and promotional appearances in 2011,” read a statement on her website last month. “She is to undergo surgery to alleviate the current issues with her throat, and a full recovery is expected. As a result, doctors have ordered her to rest her voice and completely recuperate before looking to schedule any work commitments.”
Luckily, Adele was able to consult with one of the best vocal specialists in the entire world, Dr. Steven Zeitels, who serves as the Director of the Massachusetts General Hospital Voice Center, which happens to be one of the best hospitals in the United States 10 years running. He’s been a pioneer in vocal surgery techniques and has assured fans and family alike that Adele’s prognosis looks good.
According to The Los Angeles Times, the surgery uses special lasers to stop the vocal cord bleeding and has successfully been performed on other singers in the past, including Aerosmith’s [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Steven Tyler[/lastfm] in 2006, who made a full recovery.
This recovery time for this type of procedure is about a month or two, so if all goes without a hitch, expect to see your songbird fluttering her vocal chords to audiences all around the world sometime next year. I know that I can’t wait.
Get well soon!
