[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]50 Cent [/lastfm]has been making the rounds in support of his new book, Playground. One of his most recent stops was on the CNN show, Piers Morgan Tonight, with Piers Morgan.

The two spoke about a number of issues that have affected 50 personally from drugs and alcohol, to being shot, to his newest philanthropic effort.

[photogallerylink id=115696 align=left]50 has spoken briefly about his decisions to stay away from drugs, even though he has admitted to selling them. He explained his reasons had a lot to do what he saw in his own family, “I got a chance to watch a lot of my mother’s sisters and brothers at different periods experiment with the use of drugs or alcohol and I see them respond so differently that I stay away,” he explained.

When it came to alcohol, the rapper explains more vaguely of an experience that changed his point of view, “I’ve had an experience that made me paranoid because of it and I stayed away from it following that.”

The two also spoke on 50’s success as a business man and his One Like, One Meal initiative aimed to help feed Africans.

Of course, their were lighter moments in the interview, perhaps like when Piers revealed to 50 that he works out to one of 50’s biggest hits, “In Da Club.”

Well how about that! Get it Curtis! Keep changing the world, one workout song at a time!

Mr. Rager is getting maniacal.  [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Kid Cudi[/lastfm] has been taking his time on his upcoming album; even going as far as forgoing a mix tape in order to put more focus on his album.

I guess making movies doesn’t count as a distraction, though, and for that, we the fans are very thankful.

Cudi recently released a short film called “Maniac” that is not a music video at all. However, it is based on the song “Maniac” from his second album Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager.

Kid released a statement about the video in which he revealed he will be involved in scoring the piece, among other things, “MANIAC is a short film inspired by the song. It is not a music video and it has no reference to the song content. It will be scored by Dot and I as a film with all new music. Directed By Shia LaBeouf for Grassy Slope and Ragin4Dayz Productions.

His third album, Man on the Moon III is still expected in 2012.

The entire short film, “Maniac”. Parental Supervision is advised.
