Carson Daly: Food Truck Friday With The Hungry Nomad!

If you stop and think about it, food trucks are essentially nomads.

We see them every day traveling all around SoCal in search of hungry customers.

So sisters Tina and Lara were really onto something when they decided to name their truck, Hungry Nomad!

They finally navigated their way to AMP Radio‘s Food Truck Friday and we’re more than willing to partake in their delicious dishes!

Hungry Nomad is one of the few trucks in Los Angeles devoted to serving Armenian/Lebanese cuisine.

This morning, Tina and Lara talked to Carson about why they were inspired to launch a business on wheels:

It all began about 50 years ago when their father opened up Sasoun Bakery in Lebanon.

The family business grew to be extremely successful and even has 6 present-day locations here in LA.

Once the food truck craze started to blow up, Tina thought a mobile spin-off of the bakery would be a great way to introduce Armenian food to the masses in an approachable way.

And thus, Hungry Nomad was born!

The truck serves traditional Armenian dishes like lahmajune (sort of like an Armenian pizza) and maneishe with an edgy, modern twist.

The metaphor of the nomad is also very significant to the truck owners. They’ve described it as a representation of the Armenian people who were forced to become nomadic due to the unstable situation in their homeland.

Along the way, they’ve picked up different hints and flavors that have made an impact on their cooking.

And let me tell you, it was downright delicious!

We love to hook up our AMP listeners with some Food Truck Friday fun, so Carson decided to send Hungry Nomad to feed the office of one super lucky caller.

Congratulations to today’s winner, Hilton from Los Angeles!

Did you miss out today? Bummer! Make sure to listen up every Friday morning for your next chance!
