[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Katy Perry[/lastfm] must be on cloud nine right about now! She is just finishing a round of sold out shows at the Nokia Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles. All three nights were said to be packed houses. Now you know AMP loves some Katy Beth, so we were obviously posted at all three shows in LA.

If you were lucky enough to be there, I hope you stopped by our tent, if not, don’t worry because I am about to take you into the colorful Candy Land that is Katy Perry’s California Dream Tour.

If I had to sum up the show in one word, it would have to be: Dreamy!

[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]DJ Skeet Skeet [/lastfm]provided tunes a one of the opening acts, a shimmering pink curtain masked the main stage but provided exactly the warm up we’d need for Katy’s set.

[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Robyn[/lastfm] performed a number of hits like “Call Your Girlfriend” and even brought out Baltimore rapptress [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Rye Rye[/lastfm] to perform their smash “Never Will Be Mine.” That’s right, that’s right, that’s right!

The crowd was ready to party when the curtain lifted.

The story of the show is something like a journey through Wonderland down the yellow brick road. So obviously everything was super cute! It’s a tale of love–who wouldn’t want a cute Baker’s Boy bringing them cupcakes in bed?

It’s a story about looking for…your cat and finding a blue wig on the way!

It was awesome.

And Katy sounded great! She belted out every song like it was the last.

She opened the show with “Teenage Dream” and the crowd sang right along with her. She even took time to slow down the show and thank fans enthusiastically for supporting her, “I’m not just saying this,” she told the audience.

Then she got into more hits like “Waking Up in Vegas,” and “Peacock.” Later she performed “ET” with the lyric video screaming in the background from cotton candy big screens, the light dimmed so everything glowed.

There always seemed to be a cute boy or two on the stage; it’s like cute boys are Katy’s idea of fun (understandably) and we should expect nothing less from her.

Whether it was the dancers or the topless boy she invited on stage with her, it was all about having fun.

Speaking of which, she continued the show with a section she liked to call “Katy-oke.” This was maybe one of the most fun parts of the show!

She dove into an acoustic set of [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Rihanna[/lastfm]’s “Only Girl In the World,” then she did “Big Pimpin” by [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Jay-Z[/lastfm], “Friday” by [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Rebecca Black[/lastfm], which Rebecca performed live with her at Friday night’s performance.

And closed it out with an epic version of “Whip My Hair” by [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Willow Smith[/lastfm].

The show was full of candies, sugars and sweets of all types, and yes, I mean the dancers too! They were amazing and brought so much life to the show.

Katy was certainly sweet during her show; she attached her self to a to flying marshmallow cloud and floated over the audience, strumming her guitar singing “Thinking of You.”  The audience melted.

She closed out the night with “Last Friday Night”, “Firework”, and “California Gurls.”

She foamed the audience with a foam cannon. There were bubbles, confetti, beach balls. We were all tired. We had finally come to the end of this epic journey of cotton candy and creamy cupcakes.

We all left feeling satisfied…and a little bit sticky.

If that wasn’t enough Katy for you, check the video below and listen AMP all week for your chance to win tickets to see her again at the Staples Center.
