[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Eminem[/lastfm] had the honor of headlining Montreal’s Osheaga Music and Arts Festival this weekend. He used his set to not only bestow the crowd with his own hit songs but also to pay tribute to the late [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Nate Dogg[/lastfm].

It should come as no surprise that Eminem took time out to honor the famed hook singer. For a long time in the rap game if you wanted a hit, you put Nate on the hook.

Nate Dogg, who passed away this March, is part of the larger West Coast rapper conglomerate responsible for the likes of [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Snoop Dogg[/lastfm] and, of course, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Dr. Dre[/lastfm], who gave Em his start.

Eminem starts his tribute off by referring to “exactly what my homey, Nate Dogg, used to say,” which cued up Dr. Dre’s “Xxplosive”, in which Nate sings the hook:

I must say that I love this side of Eminem and think it’s dope that he took the time to show love and keep the crowd going with some great music.

The tribute continues with some of the songs that made Nate Dogg and household name and includes the Slim Shady songs, “Till I Collapse” and most recently “Cinderella Man” that Nate put his stamp on.

The energy at the show was live during Eminem’s whole set, but adding in tribute tracks brought in a new level of awesome that we have come to expect from Eminem.

Check out this video, it should keep your head ringing.
