Name any artist we play on AMP Radio.
Don’t worry, I’ll wait…
There’s a 90 percent chance that superstar DJ David Guetta has collaborated with them at one point or another.
(Okay, this may or may not be mathematically accurate!)
But whether it’s Nicki Minaj, Kid Cudi, Fergie, or Taio Cruz, he always finds a way to make every song a smash hit.
In the lead up to the release of his 5th album, Nothing But The Beats, Carson invited Guetta to AMP Radio for a little chat and naturally, he charmed the ladies with his exotic accent and had the guys in stitches with his French humor!
There’s no rest for the weary when you’re one of the hottest DJs on the planet like David Guetta.
His music video with Nicki Minaj and Flo Rida, “Where Them Girls At,” premiered yesterday and the single has sold more than 800,000 digital copies since its release last month!
To be honest, Guetta has so many hit songs, even he can’t keep track of them all. He and Carson joked about teaming up with Flo Ridafor the debut single:
David: I made that record at the same time with Flo Rida and, uh, what was the other one? Ah! What is the big hit from Flo Rida? “The Club Can’t Handle Me.”
Carson: (speaking in a French accent) Oh, I have so many songs I do not know! What is this hit I had last month? I am so how do you say, huge in America? [Laughs]
David: We made both records at the same time, and I said I can not give you both those amazing hits at the same time; I need to keep one for me & this is why.
And now he’s rolling out his second track with Taio Cruz and Ludacris, “Little Bad Girl.”
Guetta is building huge buzz for the August 30th release of Nothing But The Beats, which features collaborations with Usher, will.i.am, Taio Cruz, Snoop Dogg[, Akon, Jennifer Hudson, Timbaland, Dev and many more.
David: Everybody is on the album…So get ready for September you don’t need to play any other records, you just to put the album on non-stop and you’ll be good.
But after partying all day and night, Carson wondered what songs Guetta flips to when he’s relaxing at home with his iPod:
David: I come from a more underground background and I was always into electronic music and sometimes when I’m coming home I like listening to urban music and now finally, I’ve put all of those together.
It’s amazing, I took those two communities that were almost enemies before and now everybody’s together, it’s beautiful.
And is David a closet fan of Carson’s show The Voice? Sure seems like that’s the case!
David: One of the producers called me asking if I want to be part of it [The Voice] for Europe and I said I’m sorry I hate this type of show.
Then when I saw the trailer for America, I called him back and said I’m really sorry this show is amazing!
Well, David obviously knows what’s amazing, but we ‘ll weigh in on this and say that David’s amazing and so is his initial hit with Flo Rida “Club Can’t Handle Me”:
