Carson Daly has been pulling double duty lately as the host of both our AMP Radio morning show and NBC’s new singing competition, The Voice.

We’re loving every minute of it because each Wednesday morning, Carson tells us the real deal of what it’s like being in the middle of all the drama!

This week, Carson literally stepped into the boxing ring to kick off the epic battle rounds.

Who will rise to the challenge and who will be left behind? Watch and decide for yourself!

Last night, the battle rounds officially began on The Voice.

You may remember that after the blind auditions, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Christina Aguilera[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Cee Lo Green[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Adam Levine[/lastfm], and [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Blake Shelton[/lastfm] had each built up a team of 8 singers.

Now the coaches have to pair up 2 of their own proteges to sing against eachother.  Only 1 will go on to compete in the live shows.

Check out what Carson had to say about last night’s episode:

Missed The Voice yesterday? Check out the four faceoffs that went down:

Tarralyn & Frenchie — “Single Ladies”

It seemed destined that these two powerhouse divas would be paired together to sing for their lives.

Australian singer/songwriter [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Sia[/lastfm] was brought in as a mentor for the girls and tensions were high as the two performers practiced their duet.

Tarralyn Frenchie both delivered an impressive rendition of the hit [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Beyonce[/lastfm] song, so it was an extremely hard choice for coach [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Christina Aguilera[/lastfm].

WINNER: Frenchie

Tyler & Patrick — “Burning Love”

[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Blake Shelton[/lastfm]’s team was up next and let me tell you, all the competitors have stepped up their game tenfold since the blind auditions.

It was an interesting match up, Patrick, the country crooner, and Tyler, a soulful R&B performer.

You’d think Patrick would have the upper hand for this [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Elvis[/lastfm] number, but the coaching panel was pleasantly surprised by Tyler’s ability to transcend musical genres.

WINNER: Patrick

Casey & Tim — “Leather and Lace”

After Tyler’s shocking elimination, we wondered what other surprises were in store for us.

It was time for Team Adam to take the stage and the dueling contestants couldn’t be more opposite:

On the one side, we have Casey Weston, an adorable 17-year-old with sweet, but strong vocals.

She grew up playing sports and only found out a few years ago that she had a knack for singing.

Then we have Tim Mahoney, the king of almost. He’s a veteran of the music business, but he just hasn’t found his big break yet.

Niki & Vicci — “Perfect”

If we had to pick a favorite performance from last night, it would be hands down Team [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Cee Lo[/lastfm].

Niki and Vicci took on the [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]P!nk[/lastfm] power ballad and we’re still upset that one was voted off after all was said and done!

The harmonies, runs, and emotions all seemed to blend perfectly, probably because GRAMMY award-winning singer [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Monica[/lastfm] stopped by to advise the duo.

So who did [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Cee Lo[/lastfm] end up choosing? Take a look.

  • Make sure to catch part 2 of the battle rounds on The Voice next Tuesday at 10/9 C!
