It’s been a decade since we were first introduced to [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Kelly Clarkson[/lastfm] and crew on the inaugural season of American Idol. Just in time to celebrate the show’s anniversary, Alis releasing a greatest hits album, American Idol 10th Anniversary The Hits: Volume 1.

The album showcases not only the winners of AI through the past years, but also those who fell a little short, but have proven worthy, like [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Daughtry[/lastfm], and [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Adam Lambert[/lastfm]. The track list delivers a nice variety of pop, rock, R&B, and country.

America’s first “Idol,” Kelly Clarkson, opens the album with her classic pop hit, “Since U Been Gone.” The compilation also includes the newest winner [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Lee Dewyze[/lastfm]’s “Sweet Serendipity.”   The tune bares similarities to the upbeat and soulful artists [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]John Meyer[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Jason Mraz[/lastfm].

[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Chris Allen[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]David Cook[/lastfm], Daughtry and Adam Lambert all surrender their hearts with rock ballads that remind us of the talent American Idol can discover. Allen covers [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]The Script[/lastfm]’s “Live Like We’re Dying” and the resemblance of his voice to Danny O’Donoghue is eerie.

The album also includes [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Carrie Underwood[/lastfm]’s aggressive anthem ”Before He Cheats” and [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Jordin Sparks[/lastfm]’ duet ”No Air,” featuring [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Chris Brown[/lastfm], that really exhibit’s Sparks’ elegant vocals.
