Misa and Jennifer met as undergrads at UCLA’s Hapa Club, an organization for people of a mixed Asian-Caucasian heritage. The girls were tired of trekking out to Orange County for good Vietnamese food, so the idea of a mobile food truck was born!
For those of us who aren’t internet afficionados, “nom nom” is geek-speak for the sound you can’t help making when you eat something delicious! Other need-to-know vocab? The truck itself is known as The Nominator and all us fans are called Nomsters!
The truck specializes in Banh Mi, a Vietnamese baguette with grilled meat and pickled vegtables. They also serve a meat-free version for vegetarians! The Nom Nom Truck has gained such a devoted following, it competed on the Food Network’s “The Great Food Truck Race” and came in 2nd place!
We sent out the Nom Nom Truck to the office of one of AMP Radio’s devoted listeners today. Congrats to Toni from Los Angeles. She scored a free lunch for her husband and his co-workers at DWP! Wish you were our lucky winner? Listen to Carson on Fridays for a chance to get a visit from our featured food truck!
