Taylor Swift Covers Coldplay

If we said “Viva La Vida” to you, you might think of a sweeping epic, a song meant for the grandeur of the stadium concert circuit, with [lastfm]Coldplay[/lastfm] lead singer [lastfm]Chris Martin[/lastfm] bouncing all around the stage.

From that standpoint, knowing that [lastfm]Taylor Swift[/lastfm] is singing the song with just an acoustic guitar would be … off-putting.

But never underestimate the power of a pretty girl, a guitar, and some really great songwriting:

Is it dusty in here, or is it just us? Well done, Ms. Swift.

The recording was done for the BBC in England, and the broadcasting giant has a habit of drawing acoustic covers out of stars. Here’s another one that, stylistically, makes more sense: [lastfm]Paramore[/lastfm], meet [lastfm]Kings of Leon[/lastfm].

…or how about Canadian pop princess [lastfm]Avril Lavigne[/lastfm] heading back to the [lastfm]Coldplay[/lastfm] catalog?

I fell in love with Coldplay’s The Scientist, and it didn’t particularly click with me when i listened to Avril’s version. She’s lovely and all but i couldn’t listen past 1:09. Hayley and Taylor did lovely, though.I really enjoyed their covers.
