Lady Gaga Challenged To Sing Off

How do you get publicity in an age where it takes major dollars to get on television or in magazines? How about dropping [lastfm]Lady Gaga[/lastfm]’s name?

Just like Lolly Pop and her claims of Gaga’s plagarism, a singer right here in Los Angeles has called out the Mother Monster for a $1 million, winner-take-all sing-off. Is she serious?

Her name is [lastfm]Alisa Apps[/lastfm], and she’s best known for spending a LOT of someone’s money putting signs up on taxi cabs around the city. Her singing is fair, her songwriting is a step shy of terrible (sample chorus: “Everything’s for money, money/everything’s for money/everything’s for money, money/everything’s for money”) and her songs sound like the closing credits tune of a late 80s wacky comedy movie.

“I feel sorry for [lastfm]Lady GaGa[/lastfm], she’s just a plastic doll generated by the music money marketing machine,” Apps said in a press release from Global Enterprises Marketing, which sounds suspiciously like a marketing machine. “This contest gives people a chance to choose which they prefer – plastic or real.”

No mention of where the prize money would come from, of course. If she lost, maybe she’d have to pull the taxi ads.

Good luck in your career, Ms. Apps, but don’t punch above your weight.
