Kanye West and Common In BET Awards Cypher

What makes a great emcee? Ask five rap fans, and you’ll get five answers. But one of the skills any top-notch rapper has to have is the ability to freestyle, to make up rhymes off the top of the head. At the BET Awards, we got the chance to measure those skills from[lastfm]Kanye West[/lastfm], [lastfm]Common[/lastfm] and several other good emcees. But which ones were great?

Check out the cypher here, backed by the one and only [lastfm]DJ Premier[/lastfm]:

Gotta love the Weezy verse of course, but how about [lastfm]Pusha T[/lastfm] of the [lastfm]Clipse[/lastfm]? “Show me the money like the black Jerry Maguire” made us laugh, if nothing else. And [lastfm]Big Sean[/lastfm] repped for Detroit well – [lastfm]Eminem[/lastfm] would be proud.

Who won?

And does it compare to this one from last year, featuring [lastfm]Mos Def[/lastfm], [lastfm]Black Thought[/lastfm] of [lastfm]The Roots[/lastfm] and [lastfm]Eminem[/lastfm]?
