r636384 4374973 Willow Smith Wants You To Hear Whip My Hair

In case you don’t know who [lastfm]Willow Smith[/lastfm] is, get ready cause she’s about to become a household name.  The 9-year-old daughter of superstar [lastfm]Will Smith[/lastfm] and [lastfm]Jada Pinkett Smith[/lastfm] has decided she wants to be a popstar.  However, are good genes and famous parents all it takes to get a record deal?

The Hova himself signed little Willow to his record label Roc Nation drawing comparisons to his decision to sign Rihanna when she was a teenager.  [lastfm]Jay-Z [/lastfm]explained his decision to sign Willow to his record label:

I heard the record first before I knew that it was recorded by a nine-year-old and I was like, ‘man that record’s a smash’.

Still, can a nine-year-old define themselves as a popstar?  Willow is in 4th grade.  When you were in 4th grade were you cutting your first album?

Check out Willow’s new single, “Whip My Hair” and let us know if you think she has genuine talent or if she’s just an over privileged kid with superstar parents?  Tell us what you think in the comments!
