Bobby Ray or B.o.B Ready For AMP Switch Party

No artist gets to sold out shows and major label contracts without being influenced by other musicians. [lastfm]B.o.B[/lastfm] is no different. So, to get you ready for his performance at the AMP End Of Summer Switch Party, let’s check out a few of the artists that made [lastfm]Bobby Ray[/lastfm] who he is today:

1. [lastfm]Outkast[/lastfm]

There is not a rapper from Atlanta that doesn’t owe a portion of their success to [lastfm]Andre 3000[/lastfm] and [lastfm]Big Boi[/lastfm]. But there are a lot of similarities between [lastfm]Outkast[/lastfm] and [lastfm]B.o.B[/lastfm] that go beyond geography: Both started at a young age, both can’t resist a slick hook and both maintain a playful style while still keeping an edge.

2. [lastfm]Cee-Lo Green[/lastfm]

Whether it’s his solo work, his [lastfm]Gnarls Barkley[/lastfm] albums or even going back to his days as a member of [lastfm]Goodie Mob[/lastfm], Cee-Lo’s influence on [lastfm]Bobby Ray[/lastfm] has been enormous. There are very few rappers that do as much singing (or singers who do as much rapping) as Cee-Lo, and [lastfm]B.o.B[/lastfm]’s album certainly features tracks that would not feel out of place on a Gnarls record.

3. [lastfm]Prince[/lastfm]

A lot of people don’t know this about [lastfm]B.o.B[/lastfm], but the man can play a ton of instruments, including the piano, trumpet and guitar. A couple more instruments, and he’ll start to be in the same league as the diminutive Minnesotan, who plays everything from guitar and bass to the saxaphone.

4. [lastfm]Bjork[/lastfm]

Really? Really. At least, the man says so himself, in an interview with, when asked about the artists that “make up [lastfm]B.o.B[/lastfm].”

We don’t hear it. But ask him yourself, by winning tickets to the End Of Summer Switch Party this Thursday night. Just listen to AMP all this week for your chance to win!
