[lastfm]Lady Gaga[/lastfm] had something to prove when she took the stage at Lollapalooza 2010, Day 1.  In 2007 she performed on the BMI stage of Lollapalooza and her act was deemed a “trainwreck.”

However, the trainwreck is now at the height of her career and naysayers are eating crow.  This time around, we’ll bet the biggest criticism she’ll likely receive is the fact that she only performed one of the three nights of Lollapalooza.

Gaga directly addressed her “Little Monsters” explaining between songs that three-years ago no one expected to ever see her headlining Lollapalooza and here she is, taking the concert by storm. Over 80,000 people packed together like sardines to catch a glimpse of her.

The ground was slick and muddy. The air smelled dense and terrible. However, everyone knew it was the price you had to pay to see greatness achieved on stage. With multiple costume changes, at least four complete stage redecorations and a lead guitarist named Jesus who looked like the sort of man most women would want to pray to, Gaga did exactly what she set out to do, win.

People from all walks of life came to see her. See the spectacle. Fans and critics, on a united front, awed by the leader of the Monster’s Ball. They moved as one when she played her new song, “You & I” because she instructed them to hold hands and sway together. The Monster’s Ball was in full effect. The crowd lived and breathed as one.  Old and young.  Black and white.  Gay and straight.  Together on a united front.

Gaga took them on a journey, one of bravery and magic singing “Just Dance,” “Alejandro,” “Bad Romance,” & “Telephone” to name a few songs.  Everyone sang along and when they didn’t know the words they inserted whatever felt right, which is exactly what Gaga would have wanted them to do.

For her encore, Gaga came out and wow’d the crowd with “Bad Romance” the one song people had been asking for since she took the stage, and like the true performer she is, she gave it to them.  And she’ll keep giving it to them until she has nothing left to give.  Cause that’s her way.  The way of the Monster’s Ball.
