Rihanna ‘Hits’ The Lead Role In Movie Adaptation Of ‘Battleship’

rihanna joins cast of battleship Rihanna Hits The Lead Role In Movie Adaptation Of Battleship

“B-7: You sunk my battleship!” Chances are you’ve uttered this tagline from the classic Milton Bradley strategic naval board game Battleship. The simplistic grid style game allows players to act as commanding officer to strategically plan out their naval fleet and attack the opposing players’ using those flimsy, plastic red pins until the entire armada is sunk.

Can you tell I’ve spent way too much time playing this game in my childhood? The board game has evolved into electronic form since then and now will be adapted into a movie version starring Gambit, a dreamy TV vampire and one of the biggest popstars around. I’m not sure how much more exciting this can get…

Making her acting debut as the lead female role in Battleship, [lastfm]Rihanna[/lastfm] has joined the cast alongside Taylor Kitsch (Wolverine) and Alexander Skarsgard (True Blood) in Peter Berg’s adaption involving a more complex storyline of a naval fleet combating the onset of an alien invasion, which is sure to be complete with intense explosions and battle scenes.

Rihanna’s role hasn’t been confirmed, but production for the film is set to begin soon.  Kitsch and Skarsgard will portray sailor brothers who battle against the invasion.  Maybe Rihanna will become the love interest of one of the brothers, we’ll just have to wait to find out.

Battleship already has a set release time and will explode into theaters in May 2012.  Now the only question is, can [lastfm]Rihanna[/lastfm] act? Let us know what you think of her first feature-length debut!

And just as a blast from the past, kill some time playing the classic game here!
