lee dewyze American Idol Finale: Surprises Galore!

The season 9 finale of American Idol had so many guest performances and surprises that made my jaw drop and not blink for a good straight two hours.  Come on, a duet between [lastfm]Michael McDonald[/lastfm] and Big Mike?! Classic. Plus, sweetheart Lee was legitimately overcome with emotion when he upset the polls and was crowned the winner on what will always be known as “Simon’s last year” on Idol.  Recap on all crazy amount of surprises and performances here!

Lee Dewyze came from behind judges’ favorite and overall frontrunner of season 9, Crystal Bowersox, and won the title of American Idol by only a two percent margin! But as well all know, both will end up getting record contracts, put out an album, get advertising deals, go on tour, become famous rock stars etc, etc…So Crystal isn’t out of the game yet, and as much as I love Lee, will end up putting out a much better album than him. So who is the real winner here?

Now on to the fun surprises of the night, so many out of nowhere guest appearances by iconic artists that I didn’t even think were still performing. But hey, it’s a celebration for Simon’s last day of judging so why not bring out the [lastfm]BeeGees[/lastfm], [lastfm]Chicago[/lastfm], [lastfm]Janet Jackson[/lastfm], [lastfm]Michael McDonald[/lastfm], [lastfm]Hall & Oats[/lastfm] and BRET MICHAELS defying God’s will and rocking out with Casey James on “Every Rose Has Its Thorn”?!

Check out some of the best performances of the night from [lastfm]Christina Aguilera[/lastfm], [lastfm]Alanis Morissette[/lastfm], everyone’s favorite Idol reject, General Larry Platt and more!
