Idols Tighten Their Bootstraps For Country Week

american idol2 Idols Tighten Their Bootstraps For Country Week

Hold on a minute, was there an actual worthy competition on last night’s episode of American Idol? The Idols closed in the gaps with their inspiring performances (weren’t they supposed to do that last week?) and left the judges in awe.  I think we should all hop aboard the “[lastfm]Shania Twain[/lastfm]” for her help in turning this into an interesting week.

All aboard, woo woo!

Guest mentor [lastfm]Shania Twain[/lastfm] really molded the wannabe Idols into authentic performers for Country Week.  Maybe it was the pressure of covering classic tunes from her songbook while her glowing aura watched from the audience that snapped something in the contestants. “Don’t mess up in front of Shania, please don’t mess up in front of Shania!”

The biggest improvement of the week came from country crooner Casey James, who stepped it up and realized this was a singing competition, not America’s Dreamiest Hunk.  He chose to perform “Don’t” saying, “It’s a singing song. I don’t think I’ve sang yet.” Glad you agree, Casey.

Also, watch the best moment of the night when Casey gets denied a kiss from Shania after his critique.  You can tell he wanted to give her a smack on the lips, hardcore.

Surprisingly the best performance of the night wasn’t from Crystal Bowersox, but by the underdog rocker, Lee DeWyze. He’s transformed from an insecure, sad puppy dog to a confident artist who turns every cover into a song of his own.

This will definitely be a tough elimination this week, each contestant really stepped up their game and are finally proving their talent.  Who do you think will be cast off into American Idol oblivion this week?
