p1010048 Fun Coachella Surprises

I had no clue what to expect when I got here, but after scoping out the venue all day, I learned a couple of fun surprises I didn’t expect from the festival. And when I say “fun,” I mean total inconvenience. If you plan on coming out this weekend or next year, there are a few things you should know about.

  • Big a$$ lines: I expected to wait in lines for food and whatnot here, but it’s the line entering the festival venue that scares me.  Crowds were waiting up to three hours to get past TWO hightened security checks. If you plan on coming, I suggest not bringing a bag with you so you can get in and out of the venue without having to get checked by security each time (if you have a wristband).

  • No sinks of any kind: Ugh, what’s worse than having to use porta-potties? Not having a way to wash your hands after. I was surprised the festival didn’t have the portable foot pump sinks to use for hand washing, only hand sanitizer.  My hands never felt so disgusting and dirty before.

  • Overpriced everything: Not that I can really complain about ticket prices, but is jacking up food/drink prices fair after spending so much on tickets and rooms? They pride themselves for keeping the price of water the same since 1999, only $2! What a steal! I’m still kicking myself for paying $5 on shaved ice, but it was delicious. Oh, and it’s cash only folks.

I really have no complaints about this festival so far, but those are just a couple of fun discoveries I made since being here that you might want to watch out for!
