Ever since Simon Cowell announced that this would be his last season on American Idol it seems that all of Hollywood has been aflutter about who’ll replace him.  And buzz has it that it very well could be a media giant and shock jock.  This guy could even make Simon’s comments look mild!

Do you think you know who it is?  Check out the answer after the jump.

It’s Howard Stern, the Sirus Satellite radio mogul is about to complete the five year contract that he had with Sirus Radio and has been looking for other employment options.  Apparently, of those options has been a job offer from FOX to take the place of the notoriously snarky British judge, Simon Cowell.

Some people believe that speaking with Fox is Stern’s way of letting Sirus Satellite radio know that he’s willing to leave them if his salary demands are not met.  However, there remains some truth about the fact that Stern has been speaking with Fox executives from what he’s said on his own show:

I was approached by a major TV network to take over a TV show and leave here and do that next year — and I did turn it down . . . I’m not even sure if I want to be working. I’m waiting to see what happens.

It sounds like Howard is talking about American Idol, besides the fact that they are the only show that could compete with his $100 million a year salary, he’d create a lot of drama on the show.  Regardless if he’s stated that he turned the job down, Fox hasn’t given up on him and will likely continue to court him to fill Simon’s position.

If it’s true, and the shock jock replaces Simon as head judge would that change how you feel about the show?  Especially, since over the past couple of years it’s as though all faucets of the show have change.  The only remaining AI judge left will be Randy Jackson, and who knows how long he’ll last now that Simon and Paula are gone.  Let us know what you think in the comments!
