Lady Gaga has certainly made her presence known in the media in the past year, and now she’ll make her mark on MTV’s Video Music Awards this weekend. The VMAs have famously been the launch pad for many of music’s biggest stars and Gaga is totally aware of this. In an interview with Newsweek magazine, Lady Gaga gives exclusive details about her ultra hush-hush plans for her performance on the VMA stage including some general ideas about what she’ll wear and what to expect from her.

Lady Gaga’s a slave to details, right down to which fishnets she’ll likely wear. She may know the details already but she kept them to herself, saying only that she knew what song she was going to perform (something off her album) and that the performance will be rooted in New York performance art. Sounds exciting! She also revealed it will definitely be one of the defining performances of the VMAs… only time will tell! Read what else she told Newsweek:
“I would say that the fashion for the performance is a representation of the most stoic and memorable martyrs of fame in history. It’s intended to be an iconic image that represents people. I think after watching the performance and maybe studying it after you watch it on YouTube, you’ll see the references and the symbols come through.”
Lady Gaga certainly seems to have every angle of her performance thought out and calculated. I can’t wait to see what her interpretation of New York street art ends up being exactly. Whatever she ends up doing, I hope it will be as iconic as Britney’s “Slave 4 U” snake dance and Madonna’s breakthrough “Like A Virgin” performance. Do you think she’ll end up singing her new single, “Eh Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say)?” She said the video was a tribute to old school New York City, Italian style:
