Are The Divas For VH1's Diva's Live Actually…Divas?

VH1 has resurrected their show, VH1 Divas Live after a four year hiatus and the most interesting thing about it is their choice of divas. The lineup has been announced and it includes Adele, Leona Lewis, Kelly Clarkson & Miley Cyrus, which will air live Thursday, Sept. 17. In a press release for the show, Lee Rolontz, EVP, Original Music Production & Development VH1, and VH1 Classic, had some interesting things to say about the choices for this years lineup:
Adele, Kelly, Leona and Miley have all captured the world’s attention with their talent and have earned their designation as VH1 Divas this year. Don’t let some of their young age’s fool you – these women are among the best entertainers in the world and will continue to thrill music fans for a long time to come.
I’ve always been a fan of Divas Live in the past, as their choice of singers has always been a fortified lineup of powerhouse’s with pipes that match their stage presence. However, I do have a bone to pick with the producers because this lineup seems..odd.
Honestly, my actual problem is with Miley Cyrus. At merely 16 years-old is the burgeoning pop star actually a diva or is VH1 fishing for viewers by adding Miley to pickup a younger audience? Should someone a little more appropriate, or rather, more of a diva taken her place? I can’t see any feasible reason for Miley to be considered a diva, but perhaps she’ll prove me wrong. Let us know if you think Miley belongs with the other divas by taking our poll and don’t forget to tell us who you think should replace her, if you think she should be replaced, in the comments.
