Perez Hilton To Cross Over Into Music?

Gossip blogger Perez Hilton, also known as Mario Lavandeira, is one step closer to creating the empire he’s been planning since his inception on the internet.  Hilton, most recently famous for his altercation with Black Eyed Peas front man Will.I.Am (click here to read more about Perez vs Will.I.Am), will have a whole other reason to broadcast his opinions about the music industry: Hilton has confirmed that he’s been working with Warner Bros. to start his own record label.

Hilton claims responsibility for the discovery and eventual boom in the careers of both Lady Gaga & Mika, who became overnight sensations after they were featured on Perez Hilton’s blog.  Apparently, Perez has taken these victories to heart and considers himself the next big thing in the music industry.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly Hilton said:

I have an ear, which is really important in the music world — to be able to hear a hit and to be able to know who has a good song or not… I’m more than just an A&R person. I’m also a marketing person. I’m also a manager.

Having his own record label will probably not be enough for the burgeoning internet mogul.  He plans to release information regarding the first artist signed to his unnamed label at the end of the month.  It’s quite clear that he’s got the ability to spread the word about great up-and-coming artists, but will he be able to keep up his blogging duties while searching for artists and watching their careers?  And does he really have what it takes to find artists with actual talent?  Let us know what you think!
