Staples Center Will Host Jackson Funeral

After initial information about Michael Jackson’s funeral was found to be false, the actual details of the funeral have finally been released to the public.  Officials have confirmed that the funeral is now scheduled for Tuesday, July 7 at 10 am at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.  Sources indicated that AEG, owners of the Staples and Nokia Centers and the surrounding areas will be used for Jackson’s funeral.

Insiders also say that AEG will put gigantic screens outside the facilities for the thousands who will not get inside. No word yet on how ticketing will be handled.

The Jackson family has remained relatively tight lipped over Michael’s death, but his brother Jermaine did an interview with Matt Lauer of the Today Show and shed light on his brother and his feelings regarding his brother’s passing.  Jermaine said the hardest part was hearing his mother tell him that Michel died and then listening to her cry.

He also said that he felt as though he were Michael’s backbone and wished it had been him that died and not his brother. He said he, “felt empty … I don’t know how people are going to take this, but I wish it was me. I’ve always felt that I was his backbone. Someone to be there for him. I was there and he was sort of like Moses, things he couldn’t say I would say them.”

It’s been a rough week for the Jackson family and their grief will not end with Michael’s funeral next week.  As news develops, we’ll keep you updated with the investigation of Michael’s untimely death.
