Amped Up Athletics: Lakers Show Up Prepared To Fail
After the Lakers great triumph of winning Game 5 by spanking the Rockets, the Lakers took a beating in Game 6. The Lakers seemed out of it right from the start as the Rockets acquired an incredible 21-3 lead by the end of the first quarter. Kobe desperately tried to get the Lakers to work together, but nothing seemed to work. By halftime, the Lakers trailed 52-36; 18 of those points were made in the first half by Rockets’ forward Luis Scola who scored 24 overall points in the game. Aaron Brooks was just as problematic for the Lakers. Unable to come up with a way to stop him, the Lakers untilmately allowed Brooks to score 26 points, leaving the Lakers incapable of catching up in the 4th quarter and losing 95-80.

Now the series is tied up 3-3 with the Lakers in a pressure cooker situation. They must win Game 7 in order to win the Western Conference semifinals and move onto the finals. At this point the game could go either way as each side has proven that they have the ability to do what it takes to win, albiet inconsistantly. The Lakers have won every other game against the Rockets, and lucky for them it’s their turn to win. Let’s hope the pattern continues to hold up on Sunday for Game 7! Otherwise, the Lakers are out and their chances are over.
