kobe 200 Amped Up Athletics: Lakers Win And Lose SomeAfter the Game 1 loss, the Lakers showed up and did what they do best – destroyed their opponents in Game 3.  After the game 1 loss, the Lakers took an early lead against the Houston Rockets.  Until the half, the game was relatively tight with the Rockets trailing 50-48, but the third quarter was difficult for the team with the Rockets missing 15 of their first 19 shots.

The Lakers lead lasted until the fourth quarter with the Rockets never being able to catch up. The Lakers won the game effortlessly and Kobe Bryant scored 33 points, helping the Lakers shatter the Rockets with a 108-94 win that gave the Lakers a 2-1 lead against the Rockets.

An injured Lamar Odom in Game 4.

Unfortunately, Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinals did not go as well for the Lakers.  From the get go, the Lakers seemed as though they weren’t into the game, trailing as much as 29 points against the Rockets, who weren’t even playing with center Yao Ming.  It appeared as though the Lakers didn’t take the Rockets seriously due to Ming’s absence and got served, losing 99-87.

Rockets’ guard Aaron Brooks scored a career high of 34-points while the Lakers played like lofty 8th graders that just wanted to finish so they could get free pizza.  If that wasn’t bad enough, Lamar Odom got injured, charging into Battier and hitting the floor hard.  Subsequent reports indicate Odom bruised his back leaving his attendance for Game 5 up in the air.  Now the question isn’t just will Odom play, but who will fill in for him if he can’t.  And all this going into Game 5 with a 2-2 tie.

Aye dios mio, I think the Lakers are trying to give me an early heart attack. What do you guys think – will the Lakers pull it together on Thursday in Houston?  Or is it over for them now that Lamar Odom may not be able to play?  Leave your opinions in the comment section!
