4/14 Los Angeles Lakers v. Utah Jazz, W 125 – 112
The Lakers dominated the Utah Jazz ensuring them a spot in the playoffs. Not only that, the win over the Jazz confirmed that the 1st place Lakers will take on the Jazz in the first round of the playoffs, which will start this Sunday. Until halftime, the Lakers only kept a 1-point lead over the Jazz. Then in the 3rd quarter they pushed the lead to 8 points. The Lakers should be jazzed by this, as they destroyed the Jazz with a13 point lead, which left the Lakers with a 65-win season. The Playoffs should be a walk in the park, but then again, it’s the playoffs, anything could happen!
4/14 Los Angeles Angels v. Seattle Mariners @ Seattle, L 3 – 2
After the win against the Red Sox on Sunday the Angels were feeling pretty good, despite the loss of pitcher Nick Adenhart in a tragic car accident last week. Designated hero, Vladamir Guerro put the Angels into the lead by scoring in the 4th inning. Then in the 6th inning center fielder Torii Hunter hit a home run, tying up the game and forcing the Mariners into extra innings. Eventually though, the Mariners bested the Angels when they scored in the 10th inning. For now, the running trend in the Angels camp has been falling flat when they’re in the position to score. Let’s hope they shift gears before this costs them more games further along in the season.
4/13 Los Angeles Dodgers v. San Francisco Giants, W 11 – 1
The Dodgers flexed their muscles against the Giants, sending Giant’s pitcher Randy Johnson home with his first ever loss at Dodger Stadium. The 6th inning solidified this for Johnson, as well as making Orlando Hudson the first Dodger in 39 years to hit for the cycle. That inning cost the Giants’ six runs and afforded the Dodgers the ability to take over the game, ending things with a 10 point lead over the Giants. Pitcher Chad Billingsly helped on the defensive standpoint by having 11 strikeouts in seven innings. If the Dodgers keep this up the season is going to be awesome.
