American Idol says Bye Bye to Scott MacIntyre
In the bottom three tonight were Lil Rounds and Anoop Desai, but in the end, blind wonder Scott MacIntyre was voted off American Idol. While I’ll miss him a little bit, it was his time to go home. Farewell Scott, it’s been real!
Flo Rida was on American Idol last night to perform his hit “Right Round”. Check out the video of his performance below.
Recap of Tuesday performances:
It’s down to eight wannabe Idols this week and some of my most favorite contestants are cracking under the pressure!
This week, each contestant had to sing a song from the year they were born. Lots of 80’s babies in the mix this time around, but not even Adam Lambert went the metal route! Most songs were slow ballads delivered from a seat or stool. Yawn. I wasn’t the biggeset fan of anyone’s performance, except for Matt Giraud (shown right). I love the wannabe Justin Timberlake in him! Gets me every time.
Lil Rounds got it the harshest from the judging station. Born in 1984, Lil chose Tina Turner’s “What’s Love Got to do With It.” Criticized for pretty much everything down to her walk, the judges wondered aloud if she had listened to anything they had to say the last few weeks about ‘artistry’ and what not. Simon said it was a “third-rate Tina Turner copy cat performance.” Paula called it a “beautiful karaoke rendition.” That’s a backhanded compliment if I’ve ever heard one. Randy and Kara said she hasn’t made the leap from singer to artist. Poor Lil’s in trouble y’all! I hope you voted for her or that may have been the last we see of the sweet southern girl.
Kris Allen wasn’t at his best either. He sang “All She Wants To Do Is Dance” and god I was so bored! It was slow and monotonous. Simon, the big queen, called it “indulgent and forgettable,” and I have to agree. Let’s see if his cuteness gets him through another week.
Scott MacIntyre whipped out his guitar this week. Who knew he could play? Too bad his instrument didn’t distract me from hearing his screetching vocals. Some people just can’t hit those high notes and Scott, you’re one of them. It’s time to cut him loose, so come on America – vote for somebody else!
I’d say the rest of the Idols are safe for now. The judges still love Danny Gokey, Allison Iraheta, Matt Giraud, Adam Lambert and Anoop Desai. Can’t say I see the appeal with Anoop anymore though. As my sister so eloquently put it,”I’m just so not attracted to him that I don’t care if he’s a good singer.” American through and through, she hit the nail on the head with that one. The fact is that we’re a shallow people who are obsessed with looks and celebrities, and one rarely goes without the other. Sad, but true. Though Anoop will probably make it through this week cuz he sings real pretty.
In other Idol news, it would appear the newest addition to the judging table is not as welcome as producers would like us to believe. In this week’s US Weekly, Paula is quoted as saying earlier this year “We tried four judges before and it doesn’t work… It slows down the pace of the show!” She later backtracked and claimed the statement was taken out of context and she was actually referring to the use of guest judges and not Kara, though her concerns are valid. Last night, Ryan Seacrest was scrambling for time and the last contestant didn’t get any feedback from the judges. It seems like an obvious solution to this problem would be to clean up Paula’s diahrrea of the mouth. I mean, really. She goes on and on and on without saying anything! March 23rd, Kara fired back on the Ellen DeGeneres show: “I kind of get a little more technical. They like to talk about the clothes.” True statement. Though clothes are important to a shallow b*tch like me. Moral of the story? Less Paula is more!
Tune in tonight at 8pm on Fox to see who gets the axe and Flo Rida perform!
