Snap Judgement! This Weekend at the Movies
I Love You, Man
This movie looks great. Normally I’d be offended by all the gay jokes and innuendos but I’m willing to forgive all that because of the cast (Paul Rudd, Andy Samberg, Rashida Jones). It’s a film about a guy who is getting married and needs a best man but has no guy friends. Instead, he has only girlfriends so he has to go on man-dates to make friends. As always, hilarity ensues and Andy Samberg holds down the movie while Paul Rudd plays the uppity, slightly more boring brother. Anyway, as far as RomComs go, this one looks pretty awesome. I am definitely thinking about maybe going to see it for sure.
Verdict: Doable. Way doable.

Duplicity
Does Julia Roberts have to do that huge-mouth laugh of hers in EVERY MOVIE!?! The end.
Verdict: Borderline. I would like to watch the director’s cut where all the wide-mouth JuliaCackles were edited out.

Knowing
Totally terrifying. In this movie a little boy discovers some sort of predictive letter from 50 years ago that predicts all the disasters that have happened since. Then Nicolas Cage has to run around in New York saving people from subway crashes and stuff and there’s creepy men who lurk in the shadows to emphasize how scary it is that all these disasters are going to happen. I must say that after I watch the trailer I got scared to be in my apartment alone. If the film is as good as the preview get ready to be totally creeped out. Yay?
Verdict: Awesome(ly scary)

The Great Buck Howard
This movies seems like a good thing to go to if you’re stressed out and need a little time to relax and calm down. Starring John Malkovich and the entire Hanks family, this movie seems like the kind of quirky affair that would engage your brain just enough to entertain you but wouldn’t stress your heart with any actual suspense, excitement, or thrills. I think the best parts of the film have got to be the cameos of Conan O’Brian and Martha Stewart. Malkovich plays a fictional magician who becomes instantly famous after hypnotizing an entire room and making them fall asleep. Let’s hope his performance doesn’t have the same effect on the theatre audience…
Verdict: If you’re feeling stressed and need to calm down, go see this movie.
